Middle school

Advanced cycle:

6th Grade – 11 to 12 years
7th Grade – 12 to 13 years
8th Grade – 13 to 14 years
9th Grade – 14 to 15 years

The Grade-6 year aims to consolidate the fundamental knowledge acquired in primary school and introduce students to the subjects and methods specific to secondary education. 

In Grades 7, 8, and 9, students enter the advanced cycle, which allows them to deepen their knowledge and skills in various areas. Each student gradually prepares for future integration into the economic and professional world.

In Grade 7, students begin learning a new foreign language: Spanish or German.

The Grade-4 year also offers the opportunity to participate in an internship. At the end of the year, students take the national diploma exam: Diplôme National du Brevet.

The National Diploma “Brevet”

Passing the “Brevet” depends on the points earned during the year (continuous assessment) and the final exams.

Four written exams: 

  • French (3 hours)
  • Mathematics (2 hours)
  • History and Geography (2 hours)
  • Science (1 hour)

One oral exam:

Presentation of a project carried out in the history of arts or as part of an EPI (Interdisciplinary Practical Teaching), followed by a 15-minute individual interview.
